Steps
- Draft a clear and detailed job description for each open position. Include responsibilities, qualifications, compensation, and reporting structure.
- Post the position to hiring platforms or share it internally. Review applications and screen candidates for eligibility, including background checks where required by law.
- Conduct interviews with at least one manager present. Evaluate communication, compliance awareness, and job-specific experience.
- Upon selection, issue an offer letter with employment terms. Include start date, wage, and required documents for onboarding.
- Schedule onboarding and training. Prepare employee accounts, badges, and access permissions. Review state compliance requirements, store policies, and SOPs.
- Assign a mentor or shift lead for the first week of employment. Conduct daily check-ins and provide ongoing feedback.
- Conduct formal performance reviews at regular intervals. Use documented criteria such as punctuality, accuracy, customer service, and adherence to compliance standards.
- Address performance issues promptly. Provide verbal or written warnings and initiate a performance improvement plan (PIP) if necessary.
- If termination is required, follow internal HR procedures. Collect company property, disable access credentials, and issue a final paycheck per state law.
Retain all personnel records securely. Ensure compliance with local labor and cannabis regulations regarding employee files and reporting.
