Steps

  1. Draft a clear and detailed job description for each open position. Include responsibilities, qualifications, compensation, and reporting structure.
  2. Post the position to hiring platforms or share it internally. Review applications and screen candidates for eligibility, including background checks where required by law.
  3. Conduct interviews with at least one manager present. Evaluate communication, compliance awareness, and job-specific experience.
  4. Upon selection, issue an offer letter with employment terms. Include start date, wage, and required documents for onboarding.
  5. Schedule onboarding and training. Prepare employee accounts, badges, and access permissions. Review state compliance requirements, store policies, and SOPs.
  6. Assign a mentor or shift lead for the first week of employment. Conduct daily check-ins and provide ongoing feedback.
  7. Conduct formal performance reviews at regular intervals. Use documented criteria such as punctuality, accuracy, customer service, and adherence to compliance standards.
  8. Address performance issues promptly. Provide verbal or written warnings and initiate a performance improvement plan (PIP) if necessary.
  9. If termination is required, follow internal HR procedures. Collect company property, disable access credentials, and issue a final paycheck per state law.

Retain all personnel records securely. Ensure compliance with local labor and cannabis regulations regarding employee files and reporting.
