Steps

  1. Notify customers that the store is closing. Use in-store announcements or signage to provide a five-minute warning before final sales are cut off.
  2. Complete all remaining transactions in the POS. Ensure no new sales are started after the posted closing time.
  3. Secure all cannabis products. Move remaining items from the sales floor to the vault or secured storage. Ensure that all bins, drawers, and cases are empty and locked.
  4. Count each cash drawer with a manager or shift lead present. Log totals, document any discrepancies, and store cash in the safe according to policy.
  5. Power down POS terminals, printers, scanners, and display screens. Log out of all user accounts.
  6. Perform a walkthrough of the facility. Check restrooms, employee break rooms, back of house, and exit doors to ensure no one is left in the building.
  7. Confirm all external doors and windows are locked. Arm the alarm or security system if applicable.
  8. Fill out the closing checklist. Include initials or signatures from each responsible employee.

Notify the General Manager or designated contact that the store has been closed successfully. Submit any necessary reports or logs from the shift.
