Section 2: CloudBox Link Setup Guide

Introduction

Welcome to the CloudBox Link hardware setup tutorial for the desktop and web app version. This guide will walk you through connecting your hardware components, such as the scale, RFID or barcode reader, and USB hub, to ensure accurate, real-time inventory tracking. Whether you’re setting up CloudBox Link for the first time or reconfiguring your system, this process ensures everything is properly integrated and ready for use.

Step-by-Sep Tutorial

  1. To access CloudBox Link on your computer, visit app.cloudboxapp.com or navigate through the CloudBox website and click Web App Login.
  2. Once inside, select the Link section—this is where you’ll manage your day-to-day operations, including inventory cycle counts, container setup, and container editing.
  3. Before starting, make sure your laptop or desktop is connected to the scale.
    • If possible, connect the RS232 cable directly into your computer’s port for the most reliable connection.
    • If your computer does not have a serial port, use a USB-C dock or dongle. Make sure:
      • All cords are plugged into the correct ports.
      • The dock’s power cord is connected to the PD (Power Delivery) port.
      • The dock itself is plugged into an outlet to receive power.
    ‍
  4. If you’re using a wired RFID or barcode scanner, connect it to the hub at this time.

  9. Once connected, verify that the scale readings update in real time in the web app. This confirms successful communication between the scale and CloudBox Link.

Tips & Tricks

  • Always use a direct RS232-to-PC connection when possible for the most stable data transfer.
  • If using a dock, confirm the PD port is actively delivering power—many connection issues come from unpowered docks.
  • Keep your cables organized with Velcro or cable clips to prevent disconnections during use.
  • When using wireless RFID, ensure your USB transmitter is within 10 feet of your reader for best performance.
  • If scale readings aren’t appearing, toggle through each available Serial Port option in Settings until live data is visible.
  • Avoid using multiple USB hubs at once—they can cause conflicts when multiple devices attempt to communicate simultaneously.
  • Once connected, leave the scale powered on during use to prevent calibration resets.
