Section 4: Editing a Container & SKU (Tablet)

General

Mobile/Tablet

Introduction

In this section, you’ll learn how to edit a container and SKU in CloudBox Link. This includes reassigning SKUs, reweighing containers, and editing SKU information such as name, tracking ID, mode, and unit weight. Keeping your data accurate ensures that CloudBox stays perfectly aligned with your ERP or WMS system.

Step-by-Step Tutorial

  1. Prepare the Container for Editing
    • Make sure your scale is tared (set to zero).
    • Place the container you want to edit on the scale.
    • Scan the CloudBox label (RFID or barcode) attached to that container.
    • Once scanned, select Edit Container.
  2. Changing the Assigned SKU
    • You can switch the SKU assigned to the container at any time.
    • Tap the SKU drop-down menu and search for the SKU you want to assign.
    • If you have a large SKU database, it may be faster to scan the product barcode directly.
    • When you uploaded your SKU list via CSV in the web portal, the Tracking ID was linked to each SKU’s serial number, which should match its barcode.
    • With the drop-down selected and the cursor flashing, scanning the barcode will automatically assign the correct SKU to the container.
    • Once assigned, any new inventory added to the container will automatically update based on that SKU’s predefined unit weight.
  3. Reweighing a Container
    1. To update the empty container weight:
      • Remove all inventory from the container.
      • Select Edit Container Information → Reweigh Container.
      • CloudBox will record and save the new empty weight for accurate future readings.
  4. Editing SKU Details
    1. To make changes to the SKU itself, tap Edit SKU.
    2. From here, you can modify:
      • SKU Name
      • Tracking ID (linked to your ERP/WMS serial number)
      • Expiration Date (if applicable)
      • Tracking Mode (switch between Weight Mode or Unit Mode)
    3. If you need to update the unit weight:
      • Add several SKU units into the container.
      • Type in how many units you added.
      • Tap Calculate, and CloudBox will automatically capture the new average unit weight value.

Section 3: Helpful Tips & Tricks

  • Always ensure the scale is tared before editing or reweighing containers.
  • If your barcode scanner isn’t reading, confirm it’s properly connected or paired to your tablet.
  • Use Reweigh Container anytime you change lids, packaging, or container types.
  • For small or lightweight products, weigh 5–10 units when recalculating unit weights to improve accuracy.
  • Keep SKU names clear and consistent with your ERP/WMS naming structure for easy lookup.
  • After editing, perform a cycle count to verify the changes sync correctly with your ERP or reporting system.
