Section 4: Editing a Container & SKU (Tablet)

Cannabis

Mobile/Tablet

Introduction

In this section, you’ll learn how to edit containers and SKUs within the CloudBox Link tablet app for cannabis businesses. This includes changing the SKU assigned to a container, reweighing the empty container, and adjusting SKU details such as unit weight, expiration date, and tracking mode. Keeping these details accurate ensures your CloudBox data remains fully synced with METRC or BioTrack for compliance reporting.

Step-by-Step Tutorial

  1. Prepare the Container for Editing
    • Make sure your scale is tared (set to zero).
    • Place the container you want to edit on the scale.
    • Scan the CloudBox label (RFID or barcode) attached to the container.
    • Once scanned, tap Edit Container.
  2. Changing the Assigned SKU
    • You can reassign a different SKU to this container at any time.
    • Tap the SKU drop-down menu and search for the correct SKU name.
    • If your inventory list is large, it’s often faster to scan the METRC or BioTrack package tag.
    • When you uploaded your SKU list via the web portal, CloudBox linked each Tracking ID to its corresponding METRC or BioTrack package ID.
    • With the drop-down active and the cursor flashing, scanning the barcode will automatically select and assign the correct SKU to the container.
    • Once the new SKU is assigned, any inventory you place into the container will update automatically using that SKU’s predefined unit weight.
  3. Reweighing a Container
    1. To change the empty weight of a container:
      • Remove all inventory from the container.
      • Tap Edit Container Information → Reweigh Container.
      • CloudBox will record and save the new empty container weight value.
  4. Editing SKU Details
    1. To modify the SKU itself, tap Edit SKU.
    2. You can update the following:
      • SKU Name
      • Tracking ID (linked to the METRC or BioTrack package ID)
      • Expiration Date
      • Tracking Mode (switch between Weight Mode or Unit Mode)
    3. To adjust the unit weight, place several SKU units into the container.
    4. Enter how many units were added, then tap Calculate to capture the new average unit weight automatically.

Helpful Tips & Tricks

  • Always tare the scale before making edits or weighing containers.
  • Make sure each METRC or BioTrack package ID is correctly linked in the web app for quick scanning.
  • Use Reweigh Container anytime you change packaging, lids, or containers.
  • When recalculating unit weights, use at least 5–10 items to ensure accuracy, especially for lightweight SKUs.
  • After making edits, run a quick cycle count to verify that your CloudBox data matches your compliance system.
  • Keep SKU names short but descriptive this makes it easier to find and edit them in both the mobile and web app.
