Section 2: CloudBox Setup Guide (Tablet)

Introduction

In this section, we’ll walk through how to set up your CloudBox Link system on a tablet. This includes connecting the scale, USB hub, and RFID reader, as well as configuring your tablet settings to ensure accurate, real-time data transfer. Once this setup is complete, you’ll be ready to start performing inventory cycle counts and managing containers directly from the CloudBox app.

Tutorial

  1. Check Scale Stability
    • If your scale readings are fluctuating, first check that the scale legs are tightened evenly and that the scale is not placed under an air vent, draft, or near vibration sources.
    • A stable, level surface ensures accurate readings.
  2. Connect the USB Hub
    • Plug the USB hub into the tablet and connect all required cords:
      1. The RS232 cable from the scale
      2. The hub’s power cable
    • Make sure the power cable is connected to the port labeled PD (Power Delivery) and that it’s plugged into a working outlet.
    • Optional: Use Velcro or adhesive cable ties to attach the hub neatly to the back of the tablet and reduce clutter.
  3. Connect the RFID Reader
    • If your RFID reader is wired, connect it to the USB hub now.
    • If your RFID reader is wireless, connect it using one of the following:
      1. The USB wireless transmitter, or
      2. Bluetooth, by pairing it in the tablet’s Bluetooth settings.
  4. Connect the Scale
    • Plug the RS232 cable directly into the port on the scale.
    • Turn the scale on, then click Tare to set the scale reading to zero before beginning setup.
  5. Adjust Tablet Settings
    • On your tablet, open Settings → Physical Keyboard → Show On-Screen Keyboard, and make sure this option is enabled.
    • This ensures you can still use the tablet’s digital keyboard while connected to the USB hub.
  6. Download and Log Into the CloudBox App
    • Visit your app store and download the CloudBox app.
    • Once installed, open the app and log in using the credentials provided by the CloudBox team.
    • You can reset your password at any time through the CloudBox Web App (app.cloudboxapp.com).

Tips & Tricks

  • Keep the USB hub powered at all times for consistent connectivity between devices.
  • Avoid placing the scale near fans or vents, as air movement can cause fluctuating readings.
  • Use Velcro or a tablet mount to organize cables and maintain a clean setup.
  • If using a wireless RFID reader, ensure it’s fully charged and within range before performing inventory actions.
  • After connecting all devices, check the scale reading in the CloudBox app to verify that the system is communicating correctly.
  • Always tare the scale before setup or placing any containers to ensure accurate baseline readings.
