Stoned Desert, a hybrid dispensary and consumption lounge based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, was the first store fully outfitted with CloudBox’s smart container system. Co-owner Stryder Lucero led the implementation of 11 CloudBox Origin units, seeking to modernize operations in a rapidly evolving industry.

Following the legalization of recreational cannabis in April 2022, New Mexico saw a surge of licensed operators. However, as with many early cannabis markets, the state over-issued licenses, creating a hyper-competitive environment where too much supply flooded the market and consumer demand couldn't keep pace. This saturation put pressure on prices, and as margins shrank, operational efficiency became the difference between survival and closure.

CloudBox provided a much-needed edge. By integrating with BioTrack and enabling real-time inventory tracking, the system reduced audit time by 50 percent and eliminated tedious manual counting. Theft and shrinkage were mitigated by requiring all product movements to be verified by POS transactions. With reduced labor costs, faster compliance, and smarter workflows, CloudBox gave Stoned Desert a way to protect its bottom line in an unforgiving marketplace.
