Section 2: CloudBox Link & Hub Setup

Introduction

In this part of the CloudBox Link tutorial, we’ll walk you through how to properly connect your tablet, hub, RFID reader, and scale. By following these steps, you’ll ensure the hardware is set up correctly before installing and logging into the CloudBox app. This section is essential for creating a stable foundation that allows your system to work smoothly and accurately.

Tutorial

  1. Plug the USB hub into the tablet, along with the RS232 cable and the hub’s power cable. Make sure the hub is recieving power by plugging it into an outlet.
  2. (Optional) Attach Velcro to the back of the tablet to neatly secure and hide the hub.
  3. Connect your RFID reader:
    1. If wired → plug directly into the hub.
    2. If wireless → connect via the USB wireless transmitter or pair using Bluetooth in the tablet’s settings.
  4. Plug the RS232 cable into the port on the scale and press Tare to set the reading to zero.
  5. On the tablet, go to Settings → Physical Keyboard → Show Onscreen Keyboard to confirm that it is enabled.
  6. Download the CloudBox app from the provided link.
  7. Install and log in using the credentials we supplied. (You may reset your password later in the web app.)

Tips & Tricks

  1. Double-check that the onscreen keyboard option is enabled before logging in, as it prevents setup issues.
  2. If your RFID reader is wireless, keeping the USB transmitter securely plugged in helps maintain a stable connection.
  3. Use Velcro or cable ties to keep cords organized and out of the way—this not only looks cleaner but also prevents accidental disconnects.
  4. After setup, pressing Tare before each session ensures the scale always starts at zero for accurate readings.
  5. Make sure the hub is recieving power and the hub's power cable is inserted into the "power" port on the hub.
  6. If you forget your CloudBox app password, don’t worry—you can reset it anytime through the CloudBox web portal.
